Overview:
By Light is seeking a Back End Developer. The ideal candidate will help to drive the adoption of software development best practices such as Agile, Human Centered Design, and DevOps in a multi-team environment. We are looking for proven skills and experience in determining the structure and design of web pages, striking a balance between functional and aesthetic design and ensuring web design is optimized for web and mobile platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Generate recyclable code libraries
- Implement ongoing security systems
- Attend regular meeting with the front end team to expose weaknesses and problems
- Routinely inspect server code for speed optimization
- Conceptualize and implement solutions for data storage
- Configure usability of all front side applications
- Maintain a stable server with zero downtime
- Keep a backup library before any large changes to server
- Web application programming activities in the latest technologies: AngularJS, React, Node.js, Java, HTML, CSS, and more
- Create features that are scalable, accessible and renders effectively across multiple browsers, operating systems, and device types (Desktop, mobile, tablet, etc.)
- Find ways to improve upon the existing components, making them more easily consumable and more performant
- Performance tuning and creation of applicable production telemetry of applications and services
- Work with business partners, architects, and other groups to identify technical and functional needs of the system, determine the priority of work, and ensure integrated end-to-end design and delivery
- Leverage DevOps practices for Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
- 8+ year experience in a related field
- Experience with Ruby on Rails is Required.
- Experience designing and developing in ICAM.
- Experience with SSOe/SSOi
- Experience with COTS product and IDaaS.
- Large capacity for attention to detail.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines
- Capable of prioritizing multiple project in order to meet goals without management oversight
- Vast knowledge of PHP, Python, Ruby, Java, .NET, JavaScript etc
- Familiarity with front side platforms such JAVA, HTML5 and CSS3
- Server side experience with SASS and LESS
- Understanding of accessibility and server compliance
- Previous experience working with multiple platforms such as Desktop, Mobile, Tablet etc
- Experience supporting Veterans Administration technologies is a plus
- Must pass a background investigation
