JOB DESCRIPTION BARISTA
REPORTS TO:
GLC Store Manager
REQUIRED TRAINING/
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant training is a plus- Previous work experience as a Barista
- Hands-on experience with brewing equipment
- Knowledge of sanitation regulations
- Flexibility to work various shifts, days and hours including weekends and holidays
- Excellent communication skills. Must have command of the English language, written and verbal.
- Physical ability to unpack products and sort them including bend and lift to up to 35 pounds.
- Perform repetitive motion with hands, and wrists
- Stand for extended periods of time must be able to stand and move about the café over the shift.
SUMMARY
The Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Co. is seeking motivated individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment focused on providing excellent customer service and serving quality products. Our new café will be located inside The Perry Resort and Marina complex. Our full-service café will offer fresh brewed coffee, espresso drinks, and a modbar for our pour-over offerings. This position is ideal for hard-working, customer service-oriented individuals who will share and foster our passion for exceptional coffee and food with our guests.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DAILY TASKS:
- Welcome all guests in our café with a warm and inviting demeanor
- Provide efficient and personal service to each and every customer
- Create unique relationships with guests by learning their names and favorite orders
- Educate customers on our products
- Maintain the highest degree of quality and consistency in product standards
- Maintain the highest degree of quality and consistency in product standards
- Obtain and verify bank and open register.
- Collect and process cash/charges using computerized Micros System.
- Close out Micros System; count bank, balance and return.
- Communicate with team members and management to solve problems
- Participate in maintaining a positive work environment
- Stay informed on products
- Maintain store supplies (dry and perishables)
- Answer telephones and take messages.
- Punches in and reports to the Store Manager or Manager on Duty on time and in full uniform for each shift. Obtain managers approval prior to punching out.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities:
APPEARANCE AND GROOMING: All staff members are required to follow the guidelines set forth by the associate handbook.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos, ability to write simple correspondence, ability to effectively present one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other staff members of the organization and hospitality community.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages and ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished written, oral, or diagram form, ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations and ability to address customer personalities in various business situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a staff member to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the staff member is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers, to handle and feel objects, tools controls and type; talk with and hear guests. The staff member is occasionally required to stand and walk. The staff member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. The specific vision abilities required are close vision.
