Behavioral Health Specialist: Home and Community Connections is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist to join our team. The Behavioral Health Specialist is responsible for supporting Home & Community Connections programs and individuals supported, with comprehensive, culturally informed, behavioral supports, understanding that behavior is most often a form of communication where seeking to understand, with curiosity, what is being communicated is our primary approach. This position will work closely with Home and Community Connection’s Clinical Team, Assistant Directors, Program Managers and Support Specialists. With the support of the Clinical Director, they will develop relationships with folks supported, assess the behavioral needs of folks supported, develop/maintain behavior plans, ensure data tracking is being collected accurately and provide training and mentoring to staff members on behavioral interventions. This position will be a combination of administrative (in office) as well as providing training and support to individuals supported in their homes. The Behavioral Health Specialist will provide support, education and training to Home & Community Connections employees to meet the behavioral /clinical needs of the individuals supported and also becoming the PABC (Positive Approach Behavioral Curriculum) trainer for employees within 6 months of start of employment. This will require some flexibility in work hours to accommodate employees’ schedules.

HOURS: Full time, non-exempt position. $22.50/hour

LIFTING REQUIREMENTS: Ability to safely lift 25 pounds is required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Psychology, ABA, Mental Health) preferred. A valid Massachusetts driver’s license, or license in the state you currently reside, is required. Two years positive driving history is required. A basic competency in computer skills which include navigating windows-based programs and the internet.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: PABC Training upon hire

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: 3-day Home & Community Connections Orientation, Agency Orientation, and frequent 1:1 training with BCBA. Attend training to further develop clinical skills/knowledge as need to remain current.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Patience, ability to remain calm in escalated situations, effective listening and communication skills, ability to think outside the box and work in a team-based environment. We utilize a culturally humble, humanistic approach that values a leader as learner style of engagement.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of Two (2) years professional level experience providing culturally informed behavioral supports to individuals with disabilities.

• Applied Behavior Analysis Graduate students can earn both restricted and unrestricted fieldwork supervision hours from this position. (Implementing behavioral interventions, training, FCT, rating scales, data collection, ABC data collection, FBA’s, behavior plan development etc.)
• Knowledge in BST behavior skills training and emergency restraint training a plus
