Job Summary
The Hotel Oceana Santa Monica is seeking a Valet/Bellman who is a vital part of helping achieve a high level of guest satisfaction and unparalleled service and attention to current and future hotel guests. As our Bellman/Valet, you'll play a crucial role in creating a memorable experience for our guests. Your duties will include warmly welcoming guests, assisting with luggage, providing recommendations for local attractions and dining, and parking and retrieving guest vehicles. You'll be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized valet area and ensuring the safety and security of all vehicles.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay: $18.17 per hour to $20.17 per hour plus tips.

The company offers auto-enrollment in its 401(k) plan after 60 days of employment. New employees accrue 48 hours of vacation in the first year and earn paid sick leave per state requirements. Eligible employees will also receive holiday pay (if working) or paid holidays (if scheduled off) for 6 holidays each year*.
- To be eligible for holiday pay, employees must have completed 90 days of employment and have worked the last scheduled day before and the first scheduled day after the holiday.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Greeting guests upon arrival and making them feel welcome; acknowledges each guest who arrives or departs the hotel including inquiring about luggage handling, pointing out the Concierge desk, hotel amenities and local attractions
- Retrieving and parking guest vehicles.
- Utilize luggage cart to assist guests with moving luggage about the hotel; placing luggage in the hotel room; turning on lights and opening drapes; reviewing room features and hotel safety information with guests including internet access and room services policies
- Handles guest luggage carefully, never leaving items unattended
- Opening doors and calling taxis as guests arrive and depart; holding leashes of pets; assisting with the luggage; storing luggage for checking in or out early; while not every guest may require assistance, every encounter should be helpful and cordial
- Assist housekeeping and maintenance as needed to ensure the hotel can consistently meet guest needs; may occasionally assist with concierge desk duties

- Has broad knowledge of local restaurants, nightlife, museums, current events, and attractions; must be able to provide accurate and precise directions
- Maintains impeccable dress and overall appearance including a naturally positive disposition at all times
- Able and willing to maintain regular attendance and punctuality to ensure all essential duties are fulfilled
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write and speak clearly
- Treats everyone with respect and dignity, accepts responsibility and takes ownership of tasks, follows through on commitments, takes initiative and maintains confidentiality
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet goals and deadlines
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED is required or have equivalent work experience in the hospitality industry
Physical Requirements
- Fully Flexible schedule Monday - Sunday, AM or PM shifts. We try to keep it as consistent as possible.

- Able to frequently lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Able to use hands to use and manipulate tools and objects or control equipment; adequate vision to do the same safely
- Able to move about the property to perform assigned tasks and responsibilities, including standing for extended periods, walking, climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling to perform functions
