Job description
This is the job for you if you are excited to be in the medical field and are looking to learn medical skills including blood draws and collecting and processing lab samples. You will be traveling to other neighboring health centers up to 50% of the time during training. You have a high school degree, GED or High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma, and want to provide excellent patient care to all no matter what.

Compensation Starting at:*
HCA I: $18.25/hr, during first 3-6 months of training
-If have a Medical Assistant Certificate, Phlebotomy Certificate, or are a Certified Nurse Assistant: $18.50
HCA II: $18.50/hr, after completing training (usually within 3-6 months)
HCA III: $19.75/hrwithin 12 to 15 months
This position is hourly, non-exempt.

You may also earn an additional:
$1.25/hr, upon passing a conversational Spanish Fluency test (30 min)
$2.00/hr, when you become a preceptor/train new HCA I's
Schedule: 37.5 hours per week. Based on Hours of Operations:
Monday 9 – 5
Tuesday 9 – 5
Wednesday 11 - 7
Thursday 9 – 5
Friday 9 – 5
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school degree or equivalent.
Applicant must have excellent customer service, communication, typing and organizational skills.
Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Health Center Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Previous Planned Parenthood or family planning experiences is a plus.
- Strong commitment to patient care, communication, and organizational skills required.
- Bilingual Required.
SUMMARY: Provides medical support to the clinician while maintaining efficient, professional health centers. This position is hourly, non-exempt.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Must be proficient as a health center assistant which includes:
- Performs all birth control and STD education and testing as well as pregnancy testing and all other waived tests.
- Performs venipuncture and injections (pursuant to state law)
- Provides Pap smear education and follow-up as delegated by the health center clinician.
- Provides education, obtain informed consent, and assist with minor medical procedures and/or abortions.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
- Demonstrates advanced computer skills, including report generation in the Enterprise Practice Management system; a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and an understanding of Intranet usage.
- Tracks the receipt, review, and follow up of lab results and capable of monitoring the Lab Pending and Resulted Lab report.
- Executes every side task required of a health center assistant including but not limited to Birth Control by Mail, records release, incoming and outgoing charts, prescription requests, etc.
- Develops, supervises or coordinates special programs or services such as teen clinics, support groups with education outside core services, and managing volunteers.
- Assists with community networking, community education, fundraising, marketing, outreach, and in-service presentations.
- Steps in as point person in the absence of a manager.
- Provides follow-up/data entry for special funding programs or research studies as applicable.
- Participates in abortion services (participation can include referrals, information, education, counseling, scheduling, etc.)
- Able to assist with all procedures provided at your health center.
- Performs any other duties as assigned to ensure client satisfaction and promote health center success.
- Floats to other health centers and pick up shifts as needed.
- Participates in training new staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
