Billing Charge Entry Specialist

Full-Time, North Chesterfield office

The Position:

Our Billing Charge Entry Specialists work hard to make sure our practice keeps up with the changing landscape of health insurance and billing practices. Most importantly, they work behind the scenes to make sure our patients receive the quality care they need and deserve.

We are looking for one experienced full-time Billing Charge Entry Specialist to work at our North Chesterfield location in the Billing department. The hours for this position will be regular daytime hours Monday-Friday.

Essential Functions

• Charge Audit

- Audit Daily charges entered by Providers

- Audit Daily diagnosis codes entered by Providers

- Enter demographic and insurance data on patients in Allscripts

- Retrieve Data from Hospital EMR

• Solve Billing Question Problems with patients
• Post Patient Payments
• Post Insurance Payments
• Complete daily administrative tasks: mail and paperwork, answer phone/door, distribute faxes, reporting
• Adhere to Pulmonary Associates’ standards of excellent customer service to patients, caregivers, providers, coworkers, and those outside of Pulmonary Associates
• Adhere to HIPAA policies and procedures in order to protect patient privacy and security
• Perform other duties as assigned by provider, supervisor or member of Administration – for example, cross trained to perform Insurance AR Collections.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: One year of coding experience in a medical practice or one year of insurance AR experience is preferred.

Certifications: None required

Knowledge

1. Knowledge of billing tasks, clinic policies and procedures and patient paperwork

2. Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques

3. Knowledge of Pulmonary Associates services

Skills

Customer Service skills, including building rapport, showing empathy, active listening, probing, problem solving and de-escalating upset patients and visitors.

Skill in using computer software in a Windows environment

Skill in using Allscripts PM and EMR, MD Coder and Phreesia

Skill in using office equipment, including multi line phone, copier and fax machine
