The Billing Coordinator will ensure that all billing/collection activities are conducted according to agency standard operating procedures (SOPs) and all applicable Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and guidelines. In addition, you will be responsible for inputting a high volume of data from multiple sources into a database, ensuring that all necessary billing data including, but not limited to Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance are entered into software for payment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Reviews current status of client accounts to identify and resolve billing and processing problems in a timely manner.
Responsible for processing all charge entry functions ensuring that accurate and up to date CPT/ICD-10 codes are used
Identify and correct data entry errors using appropriate quality control methods
Manage and organize records and files
Prepare relevant reports as needed
Always maintain Compliance and HIPAA regulations
Provide general data entry support across MCR teams as needed.
Verify patient benefits and insurance
Reconciling accounts
Move data from paper formats into computer files or database systems using keyboards٫ data recorders or optical scanners.
Process and submit Medicare and Medicaid claims either electronically or manually
Reviews and submits commercial insurance claims and private duty claims either electronically or manually
Participates in month end billing verification
Provides status reports of accounts receivable to the Billing Manager/Executive Director
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have problem solving, analytical, resource management, creative thinking, and organizational skills.
Must have insurance and claims trouble-shooting skills.
Must be able to communicate effectively
Must be able to diffuse difficult situations with professionalism and tact
Must be able to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or 2 years experience in direct billing and CPT/ICD-10 experience. Associates degree preferred.
A minimum of one-year experience in Medicare billing is required
Experience in billing, authorizations, credit, collections, healthcare experience preferred.
Experience with insurance collection, verification, prior authorization and appeal processes.
