Under general supervision the Supervisor – Utility Billing & Revenue supervises the utility billing staff engaged in collecting and revenue reconciliation to the general ledger; manages escalated customer service issues; assists with account adjustment, daily cash flow management and banking activities; and performs related audit and accounting activities.

Posted range is the starting salary. Pay rate offered is based on experience.

Examples of Duties

Manages revenue reconciliation of all utility billing payment sources, balances daily cash collections and oversees preparation of bank deposits. Oversees the investigation of all return items from the bank and reconciles discrepancies to daily totals. Researches missing payments on customer accounts to/from the gateway to the billing system for all online payment sources.

Prepares and posts advanced level finance journal entries to the general ledger. Collects, evaluates and analyzes data to produce financial reports and cash reporting.

Oversees, plans, and supervises financial activities assuring billing accounts are accurately posted and payments are properly applied to customer accounts.

Oversees the collection process for delinquent accounts, cut-offs, customer deposits and refund processes; ensures delinquent accounts are processed in accordance with the policies and procedures.

Ensures customer inquiries receive timely and courteous responses; responds to routine customer concerns in writing, in person or on the phone; handles escalated customer calls and lobby escalations; explains policies and procedures as appropriate; establishes and maintains effective and cooperative working relationships with internal and external customers and coworkers.

Supervises assigned staff including scheduling, training, reviewing and approving timesheets; participates in hiring, selection and onboarding of new staff; completes performance reviews, and provides coaching and mentoring to employees.

Experience and Training

At least six (6) months of advanced study or training at an accredited community college or vocational, business, technical school.

Five years (5) of experience in utility billing or related billing office required.

Supervisory experience preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.53 - $34.41 per hour
