Billing/Member Credit Specialist

Description:Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association is a member-owned, not-for-profit electric utility that provides power to rural Wright County and western Hennepin County. The cooperative has been a corporate citizen to the area since 1937 and currently serves more than 50,000 electric accounts. Our company headquarters are in Rockford, MN, 15 miles west of Plymouth on Hwy 55.
Pay
$20.00-23.00 per hour
The Member Credit Specialist is responsible for processing customer credit and promptly collecting past due accounts receivable. It will require thorough knowledge of WH’s rate tariffs to produce accurate and timely invoices for WH and its subsidiaries.
The person holding this position must provide the cooperative and department with quality credit, collection, and computer skills, attain the training, knowledge, and skills to perform the job duties assigned and assure the membership is provided with reliable products and service at competitive prices. Attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness are also requirements.
The hours for this position are Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Collect on Aged Receivables
- Update credit card information or remove declined credit card information and accounts/collection of non-sufficient checks.
- Perform consistent, persistent and professional practices when dealing with delinquent customers.
- Monitor aged receivables and collect with available tools and resources
- Process past due notices weekly
- Work in cut-off management to review potential disconnects
- Process reminder/collection notices bi-monthly
- Correspond with customers regarding collections of aged receivables.
- Manage payment arrangements/letters, deposits, energy assistance guarantees. Maintain associated records/documentation.
- Process bankruptcies.
- Provide credit refunds. Review and prepare member/customer list for authorization
- Complete billing duties for franchise fees. Prepare quarterly vouchers for payment.
Billing
- Update address/statement/Hotline
- Daily payments including drafts, lock box, cash, EFT, credit cards
- Provide credit refunds. Review and prepare member/customer list for authorization
- Complete billing duties for franchise fees. Prepare quarterly vouchers for payment.
- Time and Material entry – start insurance claims on T&M
- Process PDF statements
Maintain Dealer Accounts
- Set up new retail accounts.
- Verify active dealers in company system. Apply equipment sales tax.
Manage Capital Credits
- Maintain up-to-date accurate capital credit records.
- Data entry of miscellaneous changes, address, name, etc.
- Check files related to deaths, divorces, and other letters mailed out. Verify and keep accounts up to date for future retired capital credit money on both active and inactive members.
- Submit monthly report for the Board of Directors.
- Process released hold checks to inactive members.
Manage Office Activities
- Maintain adequate stock levels of office supplies.
- Assist employees in purchasing of office supplies not in regular stock.
- Maintain a neat and orderly office supply storeroom.
- Maintain accurate coding, and payment of the UPS, FedEx, etc. shipping records.
Requirements:
- High School education or equivalent
- 2+ years of credit or collections experience
- Ability to effectively communicate with difficult and upset customers or members
- Ability to analyze and make accurate decisions
- Ability to work without close supervision
- Good communication skills
- General knowledge of computer applications
- Self-motivated
- Sound work ethic
- Team player, able to collaborate to achieve shared goals
- Willing to develop through challenging and meaningful experiences
- Ability to multi-task with excellent attention to detail

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work in a climate-controlled office environment with minimal physical exertion. Activities include work at the computer terminal and interaction with Wright-Hennepin personnel via verbal, written, and computer technology communication.
