Your Role:
The Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution, (EOCI), is a male correctional facility with the capacity to house 1,682adults in custody. This facility was originally built as a state hospital in 1912 and retrofitted to operate as a correctional institution in 1983.
Your job is to operate, troubleshoot, repair, and replace boiler systems. Inspect and maintain air compressors and pneumatic controls. Fire high pressure boilers that are 15 psi or higher. Check operation of safety features and conduct hourly pressure and temperature checks related to auxiliary steam equipment.
Take water samples of boilers to determine proper chemical treatment and make necessary adjustments to chemical injection systems. Operate steam distribution and condensate return systems and related components including pumps, isolation valves, pressure reducing stations, steam traps and thermal control valves. Analyze boiler load and place additional boilers in operation to maintain load.
What We Are Looking For
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of a recognized HVAC/R apprenticeship program or a two-year HVAC/R accredited trade school in heating and air-conditioning or refrigeration AND one year of full-time experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position;
OR
Three years of full-time experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position;
OR
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Special Qualification:
Possession of a valid boiler endorsement

Working Conditions
Working in a minimum and medium custody adult correctional facility including daily contact with adults in custody (AIC). Work in metal and fabrications shops.
Requirements for Employment
You must be able to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following convictions are likely to result in being disqualified for this position: felony convictions, computer theft, identify theft and fraud. CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range.
