Job Purpose:
This position will provide individual consulting and training to current and prospective business owners. The SBDC Business Consultant will work with communities, organizations, and other agencies to disseminate general business information.
Essential Duties:
- Provides high quality business consulting services to clients in the Scranton SBDCs service area across full spectrum of business functions by performing analyses, making recommendations, and educating clients about small business strategies
- Serves as the Womens Entrepreneurship Center (WEC) business consultant, providing clients with start-up consulting and training, assisting with program development and implementation, and assisting with recruitment, training, and project work of interns
- Works collaboratively with a variety of internal and external constituents including internal departments of the University; community development and resource agencies; the PASBDC; and the general public
- Facilitates meetings, develops and delivers training programs to small and large audiences, leads group discussions and planning sessions
- Meets all deliverables as determined by Director
- Follows all online and other reporting requirements established by the Center
Additional Skills Required:
- Excellent presentation skills, communication skills and comfortable speaking in front of large groups
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication, problem-solving, and listening skills
- In depth knowledge of entrepreneurship, small business, accounting, marketing, human resource management, and financial analysis
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to network effectively with the business community
- Must be able to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends
- Strong Computer skills
- Small Business ownership/experience preferred
- Must be able to support the Universitys commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture
- Must be able to respect, support and contribute to the Universitys Catholic and Jesuit mission
Minimum Education Requirements:
Bachelors Degree required; in Business Management, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, or Computer related field preferredMasters Degree preferred
Preferred Education:
Minimum Job Experience Requirements:
Three years of experience in entrepreneurship, small business, accounting, finance or computer related field
