THE DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST POSITION

The Development Specialist helps communicate the value proposition of UIDP offerings to service providers, universities, and companies throughout the world. While the Development Specialist will support the identification of financial support for events and the marketing of UIDP initiatives, this is not a sales role. This is an outstanding opportunity for a self-starter who possesses the right set of skills and creativity to gain knowledge and expand their portfolio. The successful candidate will have exposure to some of the finest innovation companies and best research universities in the world and make a substantive impact on their partnering activities.

The Development Specialist will:

· Work closely with UIDP’s president and CEO to identify investors/sponsors and member representatives who would benefit from deeper engagement in UIDP activities

· Analyze stakeholder activity and pertinent news, performing research in the sponsored research space to develop prospects and connect investors with opportunities

· Support the creation and implementation of standard operating procedures to support development objectives

· Assist in relationship management with sponsors and investors by tracking and prompting engagement at opportune times

· Write concise and persuasive business communication for sponsors and prospective investors

· Work with the UIDP team to maintain information on current UIDP activities and contacts (both member and non-member)

· Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications – required

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience

· Exceptional oral and written communication skills

· Ability to conduct research and analyze data

· Ability to support the creation and implementation of a development plan with actionable objectives

· Strong attention to detail, organizational and time-management skills

· Self-starter with the ability to work well independently and proactively

· Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to respond with speed

· Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently

· Ability to learn new skills and technologies with ease

· Proficient in Microsoft Office software

Qualifications – big pluses

· Understanding of association development practices

· Experience in academic or corporate partnership activities

LOCATION

This position is located in Columbia, SC, USA. UIDP operates under a hybrid work schedule, and staff works at least three days per week in the office. This is a unique opportunity to work locally but have a global reach!

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This full-time position offers a competitive salary benchmarked against similar positions and a generous benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401k, and paid time off.
