Position Overview:

Reporting into the Quality & Accreditation Department, the Business Intelligence Developer III is responsible for supporting Sutter Health Plan's (SHP) annual Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) program, providing end-to-end reporting and analytical services to internal business partners and leadership. This position works closely with the Quality Manager, Quality & Patient Safety Director, Data and Analytics Department, HEDIS Data Vendor and HEDIS Auditor to refine requirements, develop new, or re-design, and deploy high-quality, accessible data queries and reports in support of quality improvement initiatives. Develops data reporting frameworks for the presentation and delivery of metrics, key performance indicators, dashboards, and analytics. Also synthesizes and leverages clinical, administrative, and consumer data in order to model complex problems, gain insights, and identify opportunities. Designs, develops, and implements Business Intelligence (BI) solutions, custom queries, multifaceted reports, and analysis. Lastly, interprets and articulates the results of complex improvement experiments including delineating variations in physician practice patterns, and return on investment (ROI) analyses. Responsible for collecting, extracting and aggregating information from various systems, health plan claims/enrollment, hospital and/or ambulatory quality and financial data repositories and performing analysis to provide meaningful information to stakeholders. This team member must have independent skills to track HEDIS measure results monthly from the vendor, evaluate data quality and consistency in design, development and distribution of reports and analyses. It is also strongly preferred that candidates have two to five years knowledge of clinical quality reporting, HEDIS and/or Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA) measure technical specifications and possess the ability to replicate measure algorithms. As applicable, supports the accurate and timely submission of data to SHP stakeholders, leadership teams, HEDIS auditor, HEDIS vendor and external organizations (e.g., National Committee for Quality Assurance and Integrated Healthcare Association, CA Department of Managed Healthcare, FinThrive, and IHA).

EDUCATION:
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

  • Bachelor's: Applied Statistics, Computer Analytics, Computer or related field or equivalent education/experience


TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years recent relevant experience.


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Advanced knowledge of BI tools such as Microstrategy and Tableau
  • Advanced knowledge of database programming and statistics
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Expert knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) Server Reporting Service or other BI applications.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with clients, IS team members, management, and executive personnel/staff.
  • Verbal and writing skills to effectively communicate with diverse groups such as: executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Set priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities and prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely manner.
  • Analyze information, problems, situations, practices, or procedures in order to identify relevant concerns and factors.
  • Perform a variety of duties and often change from one task to another of a different nature with frequent interruptions and/or distractions.
  • Skilled in developing documentation at a technical and user level.


Pay Range: $45.80 - $68.70 / hr

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
