Posting Summary
Perform complex and technical business and financial accounting functions in support of the College of Education and Social Services (CESS) central business operations and CESS departments, as needed. Apply a thorough understanding of University financial policies and guidelines to process financial transactions. Support CESS Dean’s Office operations, reception, calendaring, event planning, travel and logistics for both Dean and Associate Dean. Provide post award grant administrative support in collaboration with the CESS Post Award Team. Assist in processing documentation for human resource activities and payroll. Track college affiliation agreements, internships and process payments. Report to the Business Manager for Dean’s Office and Social Work.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree in business related field and one to three years of demonstrated experience with financial and human resources experience required. Proficiency with spreadsheet applications and computer literacy and ability to adapt to evolving technology required. Effective analytical, interpersonal, and team-collaboration skills required. Customer service experience required. Ability to adapt and contribute to improving efficiency of business operations systems required.

Desirable Qualifications
Experience using financial accounting and/or human resources systems such as PeopleSoft desirable.

The Business Operations Specialist will:
  • As a CESS business operations’ team member, work closely with and be mentored by the team to ensure that all financial and HR processing is completed in a timely manner.
  • Process daily transactions for purchase requests, reimbursements, assist in processing required documentation needed for all HR related transactions, along with other day-to-day processing needed in support of the college business operations.
  • Work closely with the CESS Post Award Grant Team on grant expenditure processing and monitoring.
  • Training on UVM financial and HR systems provided by team, as well as utilizing the extensive UVM professional development workshops available to employees.

Special Conditions
External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees, Bargaining unit position
