Job description
Reports to Planning Manager with primary responsibilities including inventory management, project management and analysis of business opportunities.
Leads cross-functional projects, process improvement and cost savings initiatives that are complex and are critical to the operations.
Plans to support master production schedule. Interacts with Marketing, Engineering, Product Development, Procurement, suppliers, and others to maximize labor & material utilization.
Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures and manage inventory levels within budget.
Analytical, numerically astute with strong demonstrated problem-solving abilities, keen attention to detail and accuracy.
Good written and oral communication skills are a must. Must demonstrate leadership and organizational skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Conducts business and financial analysis, develops financial modeling to evaluate and construct optimal business case for opportunities.
- Explores all business opportunities to develop more efficient alternatives utilizing resources across functional lines to create an environment for continuous process improvements.
- Establishes and maintains production material inventory and purchase plan to support master schedule.
- Ensures availability of purchased materials necessary to support the production plan while maintaining the inventory within budgeted limits.
- Maintains contact with the marketing, product management, forecasting, legal, regulatory affairs, quality, supplier quality, manufacturing teams, and accounts payable.
- Maintains status of all raw materials and purchased component shortages that affect or will affect the assigned production lines.
- Executes purchase orders and changes to achieve optimum delivery of materials in economic lots.
- Assist in development of VMI opportunities to reduce inventory and total product cost.
- Review capacity plans of key suppliers and provide timely updates to production planning and operations of any supply disruptions.
- Leads and executes projects to improve purchasing and planning functionality, both within SAP system and through external controls to help achieve world class performance while managing other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: BS/BA degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering,
Logistics, Operations, Statistics, Finance, or another related field. Master’s degree of MBA or equivalent preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: APICS, CPIM, or CSCP, certifications preferred.
Experience: 5- year production planning and / or purchasing.
Competencies:
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
- Proven project management skills.
- SAP proficient
- Must have an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Other:
- Experience with higher level analytics tool is a benefit.
