The successful candidate will be?responsible for maintaining all meter reading routes utilizing RouteSmart routing software as well as the reporting requirements in meter reading relating to route performance, employee performance statistics, mileage reports and meter shop inventory & testing reporting. The Meter Reading Specialist will assist with technical support for all Meter Reading and Meter Shop software and hardware applications e.g. Itron FCS, Sensus, Aclara etc..

Detailed Description
Key Responsibilities and Expectations
- Provide support and assistance to Meter Reading and Meter shop Department: As needed; Assist in general administrative work, scheduling inquiries, meter readers? requests and incoming calls. Assist with work schedules and PTO/Vacation schedules for over 120 meter readers.
- Operation of Automated Meter Reading & Meter Shop Systems: Provide technical support and user testing for Routesmart, Itron and Sensus Field Collection System, AMR system, AMI System, Customer Information System, Payroll, and iExpense.? Develop and maintain reports for Meter Reading and Meter Shop requirements utilizing appropriate databases and software systems.
- Design and Maintenance of Meter Reading Routes: Design meter reading routes based on route field statistics for the optimum quantity of routes per bill cycle.? ?Also maintain meter reader statitcis for accuracy and completion.
- Process Improvements: Continually look for ways to improve processes in place and develop new processes for existing job tasks and duties. Work in conjunction with IT to identify process and technological improvements to improve departmental efficiencies and performance. Participate and utilize industry best practices and benchmarking to? identify and generate process improvements.

Qualifications and Requirements
- A minimum of two years in a recognized college or university with courses in computer technology or engineering. Based upon work experience, consideration would be given to candidates possessing a post-high school in a related field of study.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, specifically database applications
- Must be detailed, highly organized, and able to prioritize
- Must be effective in written and oral communication
- Must have a competent working knowledge of GIS applications and their interaction with routing applications for the coordination of routing and route maintenance.
- Must hold valid Indiana Drivers License

Preferred Skills/Qualifications
- Knowledge of routing software and routing principles.
- Knowledge of creating SQL queries for database applications.
- Knowledge of SAP Crystal Reports or similar ad-hoc database reporting applications.
- Knowledge of the meter reading, meter inventory and meter testing automated systems and software to enable system operation, data transfer, report generation, and system troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of gas meters, water meters, remote devices, and electronic reading modules required to respond to internal and external customer inquiries.
- Understand meter reading practices, logistics, and technique required to facilitate the design and maintenance of meter reading routes, and the training of new employees.
