Job description
Position Summary:This is a seasonal position that will require living on site at either Mah-Kah-Wee Program Center (Chuluota) or Riverpoint Program Center (Merritt Island) as assigned. This position is directly responsible for the care and well-being of campers during their stay as well as facilitating activities. All in this position will be required to attend and participate in training, set up and clean up weeks. Each session runs Sunday through Friday and staff in this position will be expected to stay for the duration. A two-hour break will be provided each full day with one four-hour evening break per week.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for providing and maintaining a safe and fun environment that will support the overall well-being, health and safety for all girls and staff during the entire camp session.
Guide recreational and educational activities to assist campers in earning Badges and Patches.
Provide consistent supervision of campers while leading them though the daily schedule.
Responsible for proper storage, use, and care of camp equipment.
Responsible for regular cleaning and disinfecting of units, program areas, activity equipment, etc.
Actively participate in all activities, ceremonies, theme meals, etc.
Ability to observe and assess camper behavior and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
Identify and capitalize on teachable moments.
Attend and participate in all staff meetings.
Conduct end-of-camp inventory and cleaning.
Act as a positive role model for campers and staff including enthusiasm, creativity, flexibility, cleanliness, punctuality, sportsmanship, and table manners.
Establish and maintain a good working relationship with all staff.
Complete and submit all required paperwork and reports as directed.
Live onsite in cabins or yurts through the duration of each session.
Adhere to Girl Scout Safety Standards as outlined in Safety Activity Checkpoints.
Follow all safety guidelines put in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19
Other duties as assigned by Camp Leadership.

Qualifications & Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Successful clearance of a Level 2 background screening and the National Sexual Offender Public Website.
Willingness to subscribe to the principles expressed in the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid and able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury).
Possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers and carry out all program requirements.
Willingness to live and sleep in a camp setting and operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying weather conditions.
Must be able to obtain or become certified in First Aid/CPR.
Must submit a current Health Examination prior to the first day of pre-camp.
Preferred:
Bi-lingual (Spanish & English)
Previous experience in a camp/youth focused setting preferred
Understanding of the Girl Scout Organization and National Program Portfolio.
