We are seeking an experienced Cannabis Laboratory Technician to join our team. Reporting directly to our Scientific Director, you will help run day to day testing in the chemistry department. This position will be responsible for both automated and manual testing molecular techniques performed in the laboratory, including real-time PCR, and LC-MS, GC-MS, HPLC and ICPMS.
Operation of analytical instrumentation including but not limited to the following: HPLC-UV, HS-GC(MS) and ASL-GCMS, LCMSMS, GCMSMS, and ICPMS. All phases of sample preparation and reagent preparation.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Develop, document, and validate analytical methods, primarily HPLC, and GC to meet regulatory requirements ISO 17025 compliance. (With supervision)
· Develop sample preparation procedures to increase robustness of HPLC and GC methods and allow higher throughput and accuracy in quantification
· Operate and maintain analytical instrumentation, including HPLC/UPLC systems, GC-FID with Headspace, LCMSMS, GCMSMS and ICPMS equipment.
· Date Entry, basic calculations, and statistical analysis.
· Ensure accuracy of data and timely turnaround of results in order to support production timelines and objectives.
· Wet chemistry and sampling handling techniques to include pipetting, weighing, and some use of gas-tight syringes.
Reagent and sample preparation: of complex matrices
· Sample aliquoting, extraction and filtration of flower, edible and all final product samples
· Dilution of samples prior to HPLC analysis
· Ball mill/grinder operation
· Sonication and Vortexing
· Sample prepation filtration, dSPE, QuECHERS etc.
· Homogeneity sample preparation
· Sample dilution
· Preparation of spikes, blanks, and internal standards
· Calibration standard preparation
Maintain sample preparation area and equipment.
· Maintain centrifuge, ball mill/grinder, sonicator, and vortexer
· Maintain analytical balance, volumetric pipettes, and glassware.
· Maintain volumetric pipettes. (up to date calibration)
· Maintain inventory of reagents, vials, caps, centrifuge tubes, columns, CRM’s etc.
Maintain records (log and forms) associated with sample preparation and analysis:
· COA (Certified Of Analysis)
· Prepare reports for assay results and review reported data.
· Adhere to document retention polices.
· Utilize file management system
· Practice best judgment in data interpretation.
- Report data in a timely manner.
- Report data consistent with the internal quality manual.
- Maintain laboratory notebook.
- Follow good laboratory practices, LA Regulations and documentation (GLP, ISO17025-2017)
- Laboratory safety
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Chemical hazards and biohazards
- Use of fume hood
- Use of Class 2 biohazard cabinet
Other Duties may include:
· Reporting Data in LIMS
· Instrument maintenance and troubleshooting on daily basis
· Conduct new method development and validation with supervision
Analyst Skills and Qualifications:
- MS analytical chemistry, chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or equivalent preferred. OR
- BA/BS with 4+ years’ experience, preferably in an analytical chemistry laboratory in an industrial setting.
- Strong background in chemistry.
- Method development experience, with a proven track record of successfully developing sample extraction methods and robust, specific LC quantification assays,
- Knowledge of ICH, FDA, AOAC and USP guidance documents/technical procedures for method development/validation.
- Cannabis experience very beneficial
SCHEDULE:
- Day Shift, Monday-Friday: 8:30AM-5:30PM
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- $60,000-$100,000 per year
- $30-$40 per hour
- Overtime pay available
