Career Advisor is responsible to serve as an employment resource for students, graduates, and employers. Duties include assisting faculty in preparing students for job search through development of job search techniques, resume development, interviewing skills and business letter writing. Will work closely with employers to refer best qualified candidates to meet job requirements.
***4 day work week, but get paid for 5!

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Generate/establish as many quality job openings as possible and handle on a priority basis.
- Collect, verify, and maintain graduate employment verification forms in accordance with graduate employment verification procedure and regulatory compliance with ACCSC.
- Achieve and monitor placement goals, at a minimum, according to ACCSC outcome benchmarks.
- Report hires and update placement statistics accordingly.
- Compile and maintain placement statistics for the annual completion of the ACCSC report.
- Prepare and forward weekly report to the director of Career Advising and school director on a timely basis.
- Maintain/update graduate placement data and employer information in the student Information Management System (SIMS).
- Develop one-on-one relationships with students ensuring employment readiness through resume writing, mock interviewing, and professional job search techniques.
- Enter job openings and post graduate referrals in the SIMS system.
- Maintain regular contact with students and graduates in order to have thorough and current knowledge of graduate status information.
- Utilize all available resources and follow-up techniques to reengage graduates who are categorized as unknown/no communication.
- Conduct classroom presentations to all classes each semester to explain the Career Advising service.
- Conduct job search workshops each semester.
- Conduct individual profile interviews every semester with each fourth semester student.
- Conduct and review video-taped mock interviews with fourth semester students (each semester.)
- Accurately track Career Advising activities in company database in a timely manner.
- Effectively track pipeline of Career Advising activities that lead to graduate employment.
- Complete placement verifications at a nine-month marker in accordance with CWDS.
- Visit employers at their facilities to introduce school training programs and promote the Career Advising service.
- Review Career Advising policies every semester with each fourth semester class.
- Assist students with the completion of Career Advising paperwork including Graduation
- Responsibilities & Requirements, Reference Release Form and the Alumni Release Form.
- Maintain filing systems for graduate records/resumes, employers, and statistical placement data.
- Send introduction letters and marketing material as needed to establish new employer contacts.
- Arrange on-campus recruiters, guest speakers, and industry field trips whenever possible.
- Participate/attend industry functions to support employer networking and outreach (Job Fairs, Trade Shows/Expos, Chamber of Commerce, etc.)
Education and Experience:
High school Diploma or equivalent experience
Additional Requirements:
- Attend career advising meetings and training seminars as scheduled.
- Support and attend school PAC meetings.
- Participate in school programs and events including orientation, graduation, and high school tours.
- Assist with special event planning for school related activities.
- Assist with or take charge of special career advising projects.
- Send Holiday cards to key employers.
- Review incoming mail and act accordingly.
- Provide both individual and group career advising assistance.
- Maintain and update career related publications, posters, and reference material as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 per year

- 8 hour shift

- No weekends
