Job description
We are a progressive and rapidly growing settlement house providing culturally and linguistically competent, trauma-informed social services to NYC’s Arab, Middle Eastern, North African, Muslim, and South Asian (AMENAMSA) immigrant and refugee communities across all boroughs of New York City.
Position Description:
Our Preventive Services Case Aide provides administrative and case support to a Preventive Services unit consisting of four Case Planners or four Therapists and one Supervisor, as well as information and referrals for clients. The Case Aide’s responsibilities include performing administrative tasks, such as maintaining case files, updating referral information, and assisting with the upkeep of case records. The Case Aide interact with clients and perform direct case support. A commitment to immigrant, refugee, and low-income communities is essential for success in this role.
The Case Aide works at either a Solution Based Casework (SBC) unit or a Functional Family Therapy (FFT) unit. The Solution Based Casework (SBC) model is based on three theoretical foundations: family life cycle theory, relapse prevention/CBT theory, and solution- focused family therapy. Partnership with families in each and every case is critical to reducing risks and solutions should utilize prevention skills to achieve those goals. The Functional Family Therapy (FFT) model works with youth between the ages of 11 to 18 who struggle with behavioral and/or emotional problems and have been referred by the juvenile justice, mental health, school, or child welfare system. As a strength-based model, FFT focuses on acceptance and respect and uses assessments and interventions to determine risk and protective factors in relation to the family and youth’s development.
Qualifications and qualities of our ideal candidates:
· Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in child welfare and family services preferred.
· Familiarity with using PROMIS and Connections.
· Strong writing and communication skills required.
· Excellent organizational, time-management, follow-up, and administrative skills with attention to detail.
· Self-starter with the ability to work independently, and as a part of a team, in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
· Bilingual fluency in English as well as one of the following languages is a plus: Arabic, Urdu, Bangla/Bengali, or another language.
We are an equal opportunity employer that values diversity at all levels. All individuals, regardless of personal characteristics, are encouraged to apply.
