Casual Driver-Transporter/Laundry-Housekeeping Aide

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 18 years of age and in good physical and mental health.
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
Must be able to read, write, and follow oral and written directions.
Must have a willingness to work with other departments and supervisors.
Position requires current CPR Certification or the ability to become CPR certified.
Valid Michigan Driver's License.
Must have some knowledge of laundry procedures.
Must have a willingness to work with other department and supervisors.
Must cooperate with fellow workers and work as a team.
Experience preferred with some knowledge of cleaning procedures.
Laundry Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Pick up and transport soiled linen to the laundry room.
2. Transport clean linen to the specified areas and distribute.
3. Sort, presoak, and launder all linen and residents clothing.
4. Understand functions of different soaps and chemicals used.
5. Conduct weighing of soiled linen prior to each load.
6. Inventory all new linen placed into the system and worn or old linen taken out of service, and make those reports available to the Laundry Supervisor.
7. Distribute personal linen to resident rooms.
8. Labeling of resident clothing and personal belongings.
9. Handle special linen needs as indicated (isolation, bio-hazardous, etc.)
10. Vacuum and clean laundry area daily.
11. Clean and maintain all equipment such as washing machines, dryer and dryer vents, laundry carts, folding table, counter tops and drawers and shelves.
12. Wash and Dry cubicle curtains
13. Must follow all infection control and safety rules pertaining to laundry.
Housekeeping Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Clean all toilet rooms (sink, mirror, toilet light fixtures, grab bars, walls, floors, light switches, etc.).
2. Dry and wet mop, strip, and wax floors in bathrooms and resident rooms and support rooms.
3. Dust residents furniture, window ledges, and beds, wash and disinfect as scheduled.
4. Clean and maintain fans, distribute/store as needed.
5. Check walls and floors for feces, food, etc.
6. Clean sinks and hoppers in all areas (dirty utility rooms, medicine rooms, etc.).
7. Check and replace toilet paper, towels, disposable gloves, Kleenex (small case) and soap.
8. Clean drinking fountains as assigned and disinfect.
9. Wash and disinfect handrails, furniture, doors, etc. as assigned.
10. Clean resident units daily / monthly as scheduled.
11. Wash windows, glass on doors, entrance, etc. as assigned.
12. Wash and/or maintain windows, curtains, valances, blinds and cubicle curtains as needed, replace cubicle curtain hooks and hang as needed.
13. Clean and keep stocked housekeeping carts and janitors closets.
14. Clean corridors on a regular daily schedule.
15. Clean all other areas as assigned.
16. Attends departmental, staff, and in-service meetings as required by the job.
17. All other related housekeeping tasks as assigned.
Driver Transporter Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Primary responsibility for driving facility vehicles used to transport residents. Also performs deliveries and pick-ups outside the facility as assigned. Driver must be able to assist in transferring residents.
2. Performs and documents completion of vehicle mileage log and checklist before leaving for every transport. In addition, maintains clean exterior and interior of facility vehicle(s).
3. Assures that all resident wheelchairs are properly positioned and locked down in the vehicle being used, as well as ensures that all wheelchair brakes are locked properly, assures seatbelts/ shoulder straps are properly applied to all residents.
4. All residents’ appointments will be scheduled through the Nursing/MDS Secretary in which, will notify the driver/ transporter via telephone, pager or in writing.
5. All requests (supplies, mail, pick-up or delivery) will be scheduled through Nursing/MDS Secretary.
6. Other duties as assigned.
