Role: Responsible for oversight and supervision of The Clayworks artists' studios.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises Clayworks Program studio lead(s) and studio program staff.
- Assists appropriate agency personnel in hiring, training, and development of Clayworks program staff.
- Assists in the development and implementation of person served Person Centered Support Plan relative to participation in The Clayworks.
- Coordinates day to day operations of the studios at The Clayworks.
- Responsible for training new staff members of The Clayworks studios.
- Oversees acclimating new individuals served into The Clayworks studios according to their respective needs.
- Collaborate with other agency personnel relative to satisfying artists' needs according to the Person Centered Support Plan.
- Oversee the development of artistic endeavors to enhance artists' experience and create marketable merchandise for The Clayworks retail division.
- Interact with community members to enhance the relationship between community members, The Clayworks, and the artists.
- Develop interactive community/client collaborative teaching events.
- Develop and manage a community based gallery in association with The Clayworks studio.
- Establish a roving "artist in residence" program to enhance studio opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Community Enrichment Center's Program Manager to ensure ongoing, sustainable, robust Clayworks programs in Hutchinson and McPherson.

- Prompt, timely, consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Ensure a variety of opportunities are offered for persons served with varying levels of interests and abilities.
- Understand and support the mission and vision of both Disability Supports and The Clayworks as evidenced by an unfailing positive attitude in all actions on behalf of individuals served.
- Due to the nature of the studio process, working with clay, glazes, glass and other materials and equipment, it is understood that safety protocols must be followed at all times.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Prefer at least 2 years prior experience working with persons with developmental disabilities. Also, at least 2 years of prior supervisory experience preferred.
Education: Bachelor's degree preferred in the filed of human services and/or art education; however, consideration of other experience will be given.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
Other Skills: Basic mathematical skills required. Ethical decision making skills also required.
Physical/Environmental:: Ability to lift 50 pounds. Moderate to loud noise such as would be found in a business office with computers and printers, constant traffic. Some travel required.
Due to the potential intimate nature of care and physical proximity involved with some of those receiving HCBS funded I/DD services through Disability Supports, and in order to promote a safe work environment for both the caregiver and those for whom we care, you may, from time-to-time, be required to wear PPE, (Personal Protective Equipment). If PPE is required, Disability Supports will provide it.
