Scope of Job
Candidates will be assigned duties that may include but are not limited to:
  • teaching undergraduate courses and supervising clinical practicum each semester
  • serving as the external placement liaison, whose responsibility will be to coordinate and oversee the placement of 2nd year graduate students in their off-campus experiences.

Minimum Qualifications
A master’s degree in communication sciences and disorders or speech-language pathology is required. Successful candidates must be currently ASHA certified in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and possess a current license in speech language pathology in the state of Texas.

Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
Candidates must be knowledgeable about the full scope of speech-language pathology practice and have completed a minimum of 3 years of practice experience post-certification and have earned at least 2 hours of professional development post-certification in supervision and/or clinical instruction.

Preferred Qualifications
Some teaching experience in higher education is preferred but not a requirement for employment.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is
performed primarily in a general classroom and clinical environments. This position is security sensitiveand thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement
Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week
and at least 135 days in length.
