Job description

The Clinical Informatics Specialist I is responsible for ensuring all clinical application related helpdesk requests are addressed and completed or escalated to the vendor in a timely manner. The Clinical Informatics Specialist I will escalate tickets and issues not resolvable at Level I support to Level II support. The Clinical Informatics Specialist I assist the Clinical Informatics Specialist II in building, testing, and validating new functionality and engaging in custom configuration projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a SME for the patient portal.
  • Assist Clinical Informatics manager and other Specialists with building and editing templates, macros and configurations.
  • Provides assistance with new employee/Provider clinical applications training.
  • Collaborate with the Helpdesk technicians to resolve any software or hardware issues pertaining to clinical applications.
  • Monitor and report clinical application helpdesk statistics to the Clinical Informatics Manager.
  • Maintain, monitor and troubleshoot clinical applications issues.
  • Test backup and disaster recovery processes and procedures.
  • Work with Clinical Informatics Specialist II to test new workflows and features implemented by vendors.
  • Monitor iscribe hold queue and facilitate corrected dictations.
  • Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend any required meetings.
  • Displays courteous and professional behavior, a positive attitude, appropriate attire and grooming, and an effective work ethic in all interactions with the public.
  • Undertaking other duties not specifically stated which from time to time are necessary without altering the nature or level of responsibility.
  • Assure compliance with all company plans, policies and procedures set forth by the Florida Orthopaedic Institute
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Intermediate knowledge of EHR and Patient Management Systems (AthenaNet experience preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of the functionalities of medical transcription systems
  • Experience with clinical workflows
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented work ethic.
  • Willingness to work flexible / odd hours at times, based on needs.
  • Demonstrates strong time management and the ability to work on multiple projects at once.
  • Language Skills: Ability to write reports, peer correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from groups of faculty, staff and peers.
  • Technical Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
    • Working knowledge of LAN and WAN topologies and architecture.
    • Strong working knowledge of EHR Systems.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
    • Ability to create and edit EHR templates and macros.
    • Develop effective working relationships with customers, co-workers and administration.
    • Ability to make contacts with other departments, requiring tact and judgment to avoid friction; frequent contacts with administrators on matters requiring explanations and discussions; frequent contacts involving the carrying out of programs and schedules; regular and frequent outside contact with persons of high rank requiring tact and judgment; requires well developed sense of strategy and timing.
    • Ability to collaborate with technical and engineering personnel from Athena, iScribe, Radix and other clinical applications to discuss technical issues pertaining to problems, purchases or technical specifications.
    • Works with end users to understand and research customization requests
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, and peers; skill in oral and written communication; skill and patience in listening.
