Job Summary

The Cloud Developer will support and optimize data engineering workflows with data in Snowflake and Azure cloud environments and prepare data for use in PowerBI visualizations. Ideal candidate will work alongside the Data team and assist with designing, deploying, and maintaining multiple, fast-turnaround capabilities utilized to perform highly visible and high priority collection efforts

Responsibilities and Duties

• Support and migrate data using ETL tools to Snowflake and optimizing queries in Snowflake along with data validation, and data cleanup
• Develop & deploy big data pipelines in a cloud environment using Snowflake cloud DW
• ETL design, development and migration of existing on-prem ETL routines to Cloud Service
• Interact with senior leaders, understand their business goals, contribute to the delivery of the work streams
• Design and optimize model codes for faster execution
• Apply object-oriented and functional programming styles to real-world Big Data Engineering problems using Java/Scala/Python
  • Handle large data sets and perform data wrangling, analysis, etc., using various SQL & NoSQL database technologies, and programming languages such as Java/Scala/Python
• Develop data pipelines to perform batch and Real - Time/Stream analytics on structured and unstructured data.
• Validate collected data to ensure it meets data format requirements, maintaining all source code, and document all source code
• Provide development engineering and programming support to mission supporting applications
• Develop, create, and modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs
• Analyzing user needs and developing software solutions
• Work as a team member to contribute in various technical streams of Azure Project
• Provide product and design level technical best practices
• Completion of assigned tasks on time and regular status reporting to the lead
• Building a quality culture
• Training and mentoring of project resources

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, and/or Computer Science
  • Focus on Cloud Programming preferred
• Experience and/or understanding of using AWS S3, Lambda, EMR, Glue
• Experience in Azure infrastructure sizing & cost optimization
• Experience in implementing real time streaming using Kafka, EventHub, stream analytics, IoT Hub etc.,
• Experience in implementing Data Governance – Cataloguing, Lineage, Security etc.

Work Arrangement

Donegal Insurance Group has a variety of positions that are either onsite, hybrid, or remote. With each department and position being different, the work arrangement for a specific position will be reviewed with candidates during a initial phone screening.
