Job Summary:

Vets for Vets Home Healthcare is looking for an experienced and compassionate Certified Nurse Aide/Home Health Aide to provide essential care and support to veterans in need of home health care. This position requires someone with a strong passion for serving our nation's heroes and a commitment to providing the highest quality of care.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

• Active state-approved certification as a Certified Nurse Aide or Home Health Aide.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with seniors, disabled or veteran populations is preferred.
• Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.

Training Requirement:

• Completion of a state-approved nursing assistant or home health aide training program.
• Must maintain continuing education requirements as mandated by state regulations.

Competency Requirement:

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to provide personal care and support services as directed by a licensed nurse.
• Ability to provide a safe, clean and healthy environment for veterans.
• Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience and compassion in caring for veterans.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

• Provide personal care and hygiene support, including bathing, grooming, toileting and dressing.
• Assist with mobility and transfers.
• Monitor vital signs and report changes to the licensed nurse.
• Provide medication reminders and assist with self-administered medications as directed.
• Prepare meals and assist with feeding as needed.
• Perform housekeeping and laundry duties as necessary to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Provide companionship and support to veterans and their families.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with other members of the healthcare team.

Work Elements:

• Physical Demands: This job may require prolonged standing, walking, and repetitive motions. Physical abilities required include fine motor skills, reaching, pushing and pulling at least 50 pounds.
• Environmental Conditions: The job may require working indoors and outdoors and may include exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and dangerous equipment.
