CNC Machinist - 2nd Shift
Based out of Rocket Lab Headquarters in Long Beach, California the CNC Machinist for 2nd shift will maintain, set up and operate the CNC machines to build flight-ready hardware that meet Rocket Lab specification at the needed rate.
What you'll get to do:
- Work with CNC lathe and mill machines
- Read and translate drawings/CAD models
- Provide feedback to improve work instructions
- Work with CNC programmer to maintain tolerances
- Work to reduce any non-conformances found by quality or engineering.
- Provide improvement ideas on batch sizes, setups, etc.
- Track calibration and maintenance of all equipment and tooling in the area.
You'll bring these qualification:
- 3+ years of experience with CNC operation on lathe and mills (lathe expertise a plus)
- Proven ability to operate multi-axis lathes using sub-spindle and live tooling
- 3-axis CNC lathe operation and setup experience
- Demonstrated ability to interpret drawings, GD&T
- Demonstrated ability in understanding and reading G-code
- Demonstrated ability in accurately measuring machine dimensions on and off machine.
These qualification would be nice to have:
- CNC programming experience - NX software a plus
- Experience with 3+2 axis mills
- Experience using Mitsubishi, Haas, and Fanuc controllers
- Experience using bar feeders
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing or precision applications
Additional Information:
- 2nd Shift Schedule is 4 days x 10 Hrs, M-TH, 2:30 pm-1:00 am. Upon hire candidate must start on 1st shift (5:00 am to 3:30 pm M-TH) to complete initial training for a minimum of 4-weeks or until they are determined to be proficient to move to 2nd shift.
