Position Summary:

Cape Medical Billing is looking for an organized and experienced remote coding specialist to join our team. We are a fast-paced, multi-specialty billing office. The ideal candidate should have good communication and organizational skills, be detail-oriented, be a critical thinker, keep the big picture in mind while keeping the small details, and, more importantly, enjoy coding.

Responsibilities:

· Good interpersonal skills and a basic understanding of team management concepts.

· Ability to gather and interpret clinical data.

· Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

· Performs initial charge review to determine appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes used to report physician services to third party payers.

· Interprets progress notes, operative reports, discharge summaries, and charge documents to determine services provided.

· Contacts physicians through management regarding procedures and other services billed to ensure proper coding.

· Meets and exceeds short and long-term goals as established for the department.

· Takes ownership of special projects, researches data, and follows through with detailed action plans.

· Actively participates in problem identification and resolution and coordinates resolutions between appropriate parties.

· Research and appeal denied medical claims.

Education:

1) High school diploma or equivalent.

Certification/Licensure:

BONUS
- have CPC – A (Certified Professional Coder Apprentice) or AAPC – CPC or Certified
Coding Specialist (CCS).

- EMT Experience

Experience: 1-2 years of relevant medical billing/coding experience.
