Under the direction of the Dean of the Scotch Plains & Virtual Campus, the Communication Center Coordinator serves as key liaison and administrative support for the Communication Center. The work of the Communications Center Coordinator involves managing all outreach communications campaigns, and response to critical enrollment messages for specific student cohorts and managing student success communication projects as delegated by the Dean; in addition, the position assists in the coordination of divisional communications and customer service trainings. The Coordinator will aid in the gathering and use of data to improve communication and enrollment efforts. The position develops and manages outreach campaigns, meetings, and other enrollment-related communication. Additionally, the Coordinator, is responsible for the training and oversight of Communication Center Student Ambassadors, and part-time staff. The position focuses on delivering professionalized communication with current and prospective students.

Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities
  • The Coordinator works closely with Communication Center staff and is responsible for the successful deployment and implementation of the department’s priorities.
  • Conducts and coordinates outreach campaigns across departments and divisions as part of strategic enrollment manages campaigns via various modes of communications, including telephone, text messaging, social media platforms, and traditional hard copy mailings.
  • Responds to and assists incoming and currently enrolled students through student service processes, via multiple modes of communication.
  • Ensures information posted on the College’s website and chatbot and other Communication Center tools are accurate and current.
  • Reports on and develops data-focused dashboards on Communication Center activities as it relates to incoming and outgoing communications trends and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Reads, interprets, and communicates College policies and procedures.
  • Recommends improvements in department procedures. Collaborates with other staff/administrators/faculty to identify needed improvements in procedures and communication.
  • Maintains records of students served and services provide. Maintains essential records and files.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by the Dean.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in higher education or related field required.

Experience
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient in Self-Service and Canvas platforms.
Competencies and Skills Required
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and courteously with students, the general public, faculty, and other staff members.
  • Customer service and training background
  • Must be a “quick study” to quickly grasp knowledge of policies and procedures relating to every aspect of student services that a prospective or current student may utilize.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
  • Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Some travel required.
Salary $50,000-$55,000

Terms of Employment
Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekends, and extended hours will be required. Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off- campus sites as needed by the college. Flexible hours are required throughout the year, especially at peak times. Position may be required to work at any campus at any time. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
