The primary role of the Community Liaison (CL) is to work with community leaders and members from various sectors to establish & execute strategies to reduce underage drinking and drug use, while improving social-emotional practices and increasing community resilience through the establishment and maintenance of the Opportunity Zone (OpZn) Coalition in coordination with existing rural organizations. The CL is responsible for recruiting and maintaining rural organizational membership to the OpZn through stipends and community based activities, organizing various subcommittees, maintaining attendance with scheduled OpZn coalition meetings.
Other duties that fall under the responsibility of the CL include engaging community stakeholders such as local governing agencies like mayors and town councils, parish police juries, and local school board members. The CL also works closely with civic groups, businesses and faith based leaders, in the activities supported by the coalition.
As a part of the establishment and maintenance of the Coalition, the CL is also responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating community programs and activities that meet the goals and objectives of the Northeast Delta Human Services Authority, and specifically the Prevention department. The CL is also expected to evaluate the overall health of the sponsored organizations on a quarterly basis to ensure that they share the messages of NE Delta HSA and host at minimum 1 event on behalf of the OpZn.
The CL is responsible for the assisting with Opportunity Zone signature programs including the Student Ambassadors & Annual Youth Summit.
The CL is responsible for the logistics or delegation of tasks associated with each sponsored group. The person in this role also works closely with the Communication team for promotion of activities and reporting. It is also the responsibility of the CL to submit a detailed report of each activity to the Director of Prevention and Wellness as well as other stakeholders.
Qualifications
A baccalaureate degree or at least 2 years experience in working with community based organizations, community mobilization and/or advocacy/coalition building.
