JCEO is a private, not-for-profit human service agency that serves the residents of Clinton and Franklin Counties in New York State. All programs are based on JCEO's mission to alleviate poverty through practical, timely, and innovative services that emphasize and develop problem-solving skills for people.

SUMMARY

The Community Outreach Worker coordinates and delivers direct services including information, referrals and advocacy to low income residents and supports projects for community improvement.

This position is part-time, non-exempt and is on-site at JCEO's Chazy Outreach Center.
35 hours every two weeks
Rate of Pay: $17.35/hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Conducts outreach designed to inform all service area residents of the services and resources available.

Promotes projects, identified by the Community Outreach Program Director.

Submits all reports as requested by the Community Outreach Program Associate Director on a timely basis.

Enters and maintains all client tracking information in CAPTAIN (client tracking system).

Assists eligible consumers with applications for; Christmas Bureau, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Benefits, Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Emergency Fuel, Housing and Urban Development (HUD), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Women Infants and Children Food Program ( WIC), Continuing Education, Weatherization, Empower and other designated programs.

Provides consumers with information about available services and makes appropriate referrals as needed.

Travel required within service areas.

Attends all required trainings and program meetings.

Complies with all health and safety regulations.

Performs all duties in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the Joint Council for Economic Opportunity, Inc.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months related experience and/or training; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid Driver's License.
