The Louisiana State Licensing Board (LSLBC) was created in 1956 by Act 233 of the Legislature (La. R.S. 37:2150-2165). The mission and purpose of this agency is the protection of the general public from incompetent and fraudulent acts of a contractor while promoting the integrity of the construction industry.

As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Compliance Investigator 1,2 or 3, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant. This position is independently responsible for conducting preliminary and thorough investigations in the New Orleans/Northshore region pertaining to alleged violations of the LA Contractors' Licensing laws, rules and regulations for the Board and inspecting and monitoring construction sites for compliance of the laws. The preferred candidate will have extensive law enforcement, investigative and/or compliance experience.

LSLBC Compliance Investigators work from a home-based office, travel daily, and all equipment is provided.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A baccalaureate degree.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

Six years of full-time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree.

Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows:

A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.

30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.

60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.

90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.

120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.

College credit earned without obtaining a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for a maximum of four years full-time work experience towards the baccalaureate degree. Candidates with 120 or more semester hours of credit, but without a degree, must also have at least two years of full-time work experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.

Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

Conducts investigations on violations regarding Board/Agency policies, state and federal statutes, Civil Service rules, licensure and/or ethics.

Direct from a Compliance Investigator 4-B, Executive Director or higher-level administrator.

May be used by all state agencies.

Differs from law enforcement investigators by emphasis on administrative rather than criminal investigations.

Differs from Compliance Investigator 2 by performing entry-level compliance investigations.

Differs from Compliance Investigator 4-B by absence of supervision duties.
