- Displays a high degree of knowledge in the subject matter assigned and is continuously upgrading competence.
- Organizes learning activities to provide varied classroom activities that are congruent with educational goals and objectives.
- Applies sound principles of learning and motivation in the planning, delivery and assessment phases of instructional delivery.
- Uses technology as a tool within the classroom and as a management tool.
- Establishes effective relationships with students and models respect for and acceptance of all persons in the school setting.
- Establishes effective relationships with parents, community and other staff members.
- Maintains professional ethics and responsibilities including participation in the total school program, participation in curriculum development and building committees and providing a positive role model for students.
- Valid Michigan certification as a secondary teacher in Industrial Technology with the IX, TX or TE endorsement meeting highly qualified status.
- Experience teaching Engineering Technologies such as those found in a wood/metal shop, drafting lab, CAD lab, Robotics, Physical Computing, CNC Router, Laser Cutting, 3 D Slicing and Printing, Computer Science, etc.
- Ability and Willingness to learn these and other developing technologies.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the building Principal, and in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the East Lansing Public School District, the Computer Science / Robotics / STEM Instructor is responsible for providing instruction of students in computer science, STEM, and robotics. As a member of the professional staff, the teacher has responsibilities in the areas of: instruction, curriculum development, classroom management, student relations, parent and community relations, and staff relations. The classroom is equipped with both traditional and computerized equipment. The teacher in this position will be assigned their own laptop computer that runs the Windows 10 platform and a classroom set of iPads. The classes taught include: Video Game Design, App Development, Robotics, STEM Development and STEM Explorations.
