Job description

An OCCI Construction Purchasing Specialist is responsible for various procurement activities to support Bidding and Construction Projects. Responsibilities include take offs, locating vendors, request for quotes, and drafting of purchase orders and subcontracts. This is an entry - level position perfect for someone with drive and desire to learn more about estimating in the construction industry.

Regular duties will include:

• Review bid documents to gain an understanding of the project
• Complete quantity takeoffs
• Develop and send Requests for quotes for materials and subcontractors as assigned for each bid
• Organize and submit bid questions and answers to the Client and to suppliers & subcontractors
• Review quotations and makes vendor recommendation to estimator·
• Build and establish relationships with primary major subcontractors and vendors
• Locate new vendors and qualify them with pre-qualification checklist as needed
• Write purchase orders for basic construction materials
• Assist Project Manager or Estimator with drafting subcontracts and major purchase orders
• Enter selected vendor prices in bid software

Education and Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in the construction industry
• Proficient in reading & interpreting construction drawings & specifications
• Strong Math Skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Proficient in computer technology and able to learn new software
• Ability to multi-task
• Desire to learn

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
