Job description
- Manage and monitor the security electronic system – monitor security, movement of personnel and detainees as well as access in, out, and within the Tazewell County Justice Center.
- Be alert and maintain video surveillance of the security monitors for any breach of security inside and outside of the Justice Center.
- Communicate with Jail Clerks, Correctional Officers, and Jail Operations Supervisors to convey any suspicious behavior that may occur.
- Monitor jail radio traffic and other appropriate radio traffic from outside agencies and communicate with dispatchers from TC3.
- Monitor security alarms for the Tazewell Building, McKenzie Building, Old Post Office, and the Courthouse.
- Understand and monitor the electronic water control system of the Tazewell County Justice System.
- Understand and monitor all elements of the fire annunciation panel.
- Understand and monitor the distribution of all keys to proper staff of the Tazewell County Justice Center.
- Perform other assigned tasks as required.
- Must have a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Must successfully complete an on-the-job training program established by the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office
- Must have a thorough understanding of the policies and procedures of the Tazewell County Justice Center
- Maintain professional behavior under all circumstances in both routine and emergency situations
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position
- Must pass an extensive background check as well as a pre-employment polygraph exam and an oral interview by the Jail Superintendent and Deputy Jail Superintendent
- General knowledge to use electronic equipment, desk-mounted radios, telephones, and video monitors
