Overview:
The Control Technician is responsible for the issuing, tracking, and retrieving of Schedule II-V controlled Substance prescriptions from physicians.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for accurate and timely filling of controlled drugs.
  • Responsible for pulling and filing hard copy prescriptions for controlled prescriptions.
  • Responsible for toting and staging of controlled medications in preparation for delivery.
  • Responsible for regulatory and compliance knowledge following all applicable laws in regards to the filling and dispensing of controlled medications.
  • Knowledge of controlled medication names, brand and generic.
  • Responsible for maintaining licensure as a registered/certified pharmacy technician.
  • Actively contributes to the evaluation and continuous improvement of policies and procedures, as well as identifying errors/potential errors.
  • Enforces all company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations related to pharmacy practices.
  • Communicates significant outstanding prescriptions or problems to manger in timely manner with supporting documentation.
Qualifications:
  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • National or State Pharmacy Certification
  • Must be very familiar with control substance medication names.
  • Basic computer knowledge skills required
  • Extensive knowledge and comprehension of pharmacy terminology
  • Math, and analytical skills
  • One to three years of experience working in a LTC Pharmacy or medical environment preferred.
