The Crane Operator – Rigger, Ferndale Refinery operates cranes, carry decks, and fork lifts. This position is responsible for completing and following safe lifting plans and leads critical lift jobs.
Responsibilities May Include:
Operate cranes, carry decks, fork lifts as directed
Lead critical lift jobs
Fill out safe lifting plans
Perform necessary housekeeping as part of all jobs
Follow Ferndale Refinery Safe Practices and Procedures
Perform Job Safety Analysis for all jobs
Communicate all safety concerns and incidents to supervisor immediately
Communicate any information pertinent to assigned work so that revisions can be completed to improve future work
Perform any other task as assigned by management to the level of the training of the individual
Required Qualifications:
Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
High School diploma or GED
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must be at least 18 years of age
5 or more years of experience operating a crane in an industrial environment, including proof of current or past certification
Working knowledge of hand signals for lifting
Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). Information can be found at https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic
Willing and able to perform/comply, with or without a reasonable accommodation, with the following:
+ Work an 8 hour shift which may include occasional weekends and holidays
+ Work overtime
+ Read at a level to understand written safety procedures, work procedures, work permits, instruction manuals
+ Work in enclosed spaces, such as tanks and silos
+ Work near large, hot, high speed machines
+ Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment
+ Maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
+ Work outdoors including in inclement weather conditions

The Ferndale Refinery is located on Puget Sound in Ferndale, Washington, approximately 20 miles south of the U.S.-Canada border. Facilities include crude distillation, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation and hydrodesulfurization units. It processes a variety crude oils, including Alaskan North Slope, Canadian and other foreign and U.S. shale crudes, primarily delivered via marine vessel and pipeline. Within the refinery is a rail car crude oil receiving facility with a capacity of 30,000 BPD. This offloading facility, owned by Phillips 66 Partners, makes the receipt of additional crude by rail car possible. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include residual fuel oil, which is supplied to the northwest marine bunker fuel market. Most refined products are distributed to customers by pipeline and barge to major markets in the northwestern United States.

Compensation
The starting hourly rate for this position is $49.17 per hour. Pay is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. In addition, this position has a 7.5% target in the Phillips 66 Variable Cash Incentive Program (VCIP).
