***This is not a remote role and the successful candidate will be required to work in the office 5 days a week.***

The Credit Assistant will provide support for the Cash Application Specialist. The Credit Assistant will conduct collection calls on specific branches assigned.

Job performance must be done in such a manner that the Credit Assistant be able to communicate and interact with all levels and departments within the Ryerson organization.

Responsibilities

  • Timely processing of new customer credit applications to forward to Credit Analyst or Regional Credit Manager
  • Timely processing of annual credit reviews to forward to Credit Analyst or Regional Credit Manager
  • Reconciliation of large incoming payments
  • Accurately updating existing customer’s credit information in the database
  • Maintaining credit files, including scanning, filing, making copies, etc to insure they are in compliance with company policies
  • Process credit card transactions and reconciliation of reports
  • Process requests for credit references
  • Conduct Collection Calls
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership and supervision

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Work onsite in the office 5 days a week.
  • Experience in credit administration preferred
  • Working knowledge of MS-Office Suite applications (MS-Excel, MS-Word and MS-Outlook)
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task on different assignments
  • SAP experience is a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated competencies of being a team player, maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, other departments and all levels of management
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem solving and follow-up skills
  • Proficient with MS-Office Suite applications (MS-Excel, MS-Word and MS-Outlook)
  • Knowledge of Dun & Bradstreet and Experian Credit software/modules helpful
