***NOW HIRING IMMEDIATELY *** JISS Instructor for part-time or full-time positions in Oakland, San Leandro, Hayward and Union City

PASSPORT TO LEARNING, INC. is seeking individuals with law and order/ criminal justice backgrounds who have social service hearts to work with people who have intellectual disabilities. The positions are part-time with an option for full-time employment. The JUDICIALLY INVOLVED SUPPORT SERVICES (JISS) INSTRUCTOR provides coaching, counseling, and responsibility training to disabled adults who are either on probation, parole or have pending court cases to ensure compliance with court orders, deter recidivism and anti-social/criminal behavior.

The following are the essential functions of the job as a JISS Instructor:

*Participation in Clients’ Peer Support Group

*Progress Reports

*One to One Training & Support to clients on:

* Recidivism Prevention -Critical Thinking Skills

* Adherence to Probation Guidelines

* Behavioral modification

* Conflict Resolution, etc.

* Accessing Community Services

* Recovery/ Treatment Center

* Job Placement -Housing, etc.

* Progress Assessments and Reports

Candidates must be able to drive to meet with clients at their homes and provide support with attending court-mandated appointments and training in the community weekly. 95% of the work is performed in the field. Only candidates residing within 25 miles of one of the specified service areas are considered for this position. The work is performed in Oakland, San Leandro, Hayward and Union City. The job also requires attending meetings two times per month at one of three Passport To Learning’s regional offices located in Newark CA., for submitting progress documentation, attending staff meetings, training, supervision, and client QA meetings. On-the-job training is provided.

Judicially Involved Support Service Instructors- Immediately Hiring for the following areas: San Jose, Fairfield, and San Francisco.

*Compensation: Starting Salary: $25.00- $30.00 per hour based on qualifications, plus mileage reimbursement.

SKILLS:

* Effective written and verbal communication skills

* Ability to manage people with evasive and sometimes unreceptive behavior

* Knowledge of intellectual disabilities

* Knowledge of the criminal justice system

* Ability to do report writing to state agencies

* Proficiency in MS WORD & MS EXCEL

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS degree in criminal justice, criminology, psychology, or sociology.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Reliable transportation is a must. Valid California Driver’s License, Automotive Insurance, and CPR/ 1st Aid are required. An extensive background clearance preformed after contingent offer to hire is required, including a 3-year Motor Vehicle Report.

Parenting Support Services (PSS) work one-to-one with ‘special needs’ parents in a mentor-style / instructor relationship to teach parenting skills. The judicially Involved Support Services program (JISS) provides support and guidance to clients in a mentor-style relationship to foster self-esteem and to assist clients in becoming productive and confident members of society. Supported Living Services (SLS) give support and functional skills training in various areas of daily living, such as Menu Planning, Meal Preparation, Money Management, Home Maintenance, Community Safety, and Resources, Access to Health Care.'
