Located on the banks of beautiful Lake James and under the backdrop of the rugged Linville Gorge, we are an Appalachian farmhouse brewery situated on 15 acres of a historic dairy farm. Fonta Flora Brewery integrates the soul of agriculture with the artisanship of zymurgy to create a menagerie of rustic and savory libations. With an emphasis on seasonal flora, Fonta Flora brings English tradition and Belgian inspiration to the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina by utilizing local artists to help conceptualize the notion that fermentation is yet another medium for creating art. This uniquely artisan approach to beer yields a sustainable product filled with culture from our very own community.

We are currently seeking a part-time Culture Curator to expand company culture goals within the Fonta Flora team, support the day-to-day Human Resource function. In addition, this position will also share responsibility for staff events and communications.

Job Purpose

The Culture Curator will have a primary focus of being an advocate for Fonta Flora staff and cultivating community within and outside of the company. They will work closely with the Controller/Treasurer to on-board new hires, gather time for payroll processing, coordinate staff gatherings, and facilitate internal communications for all locations. They will also work closely with the Head of Brand to coordinate events and positively represent the Brewery.

The successful candidate for this role will be heavily focused on details, communication, and community outreach. They will prioritize the well-being of our Fonta Flora staff and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. The Culture Curator will serve as the primary cheerleader for company initiatives and events, while facilitating positive relationships with all levels of the Fonta Flora team.

We are seeking a highly motivated, capable and goal-oriented individual to continue our cultural enrichment in 2023. This individual will specifically be in charge of welcoming and on-boarding new staff, assisting with Payroll and Review processes, and facilitating staff events. This individual will also focus on partnering with local businesses, maintaining great community relationships, and finding creative ways to grow our community outreach. ERRDAY Job Tasks

Philantrophy/Events

- Handle incoming inquiries from philanthropy requests, and connect them with the appropriate channels

- Work with those non-profit organizations to determine their needs and how we might say “yes” to accommodate working with them with a focus on growing symbiotic relationships.

- Proactively source volunteer and philanthropy opportunities to incorporate into public events and staff gatherings.

- Develop and implement employee volunteer program

- Work with Department Heads to fulfill staff training requirements via volunteer work[1]. Unclear

- Develop a close working relationship with our Taproom Manager and assistant managers to allow for flawless communication and execution of public events.[2]are these events duties part of the culture curator job or from the private events job description

- Provide assistance to Head of Brand and Public Events Coordinator for larger annual events

- Keep non-profit partners informed by consistently following up with them and scheduling onsite consultations before the day of the actual event,

- Oversee and be on site for coordination and setup for events which involve non-profit organizations

- Maintain a living document and timeline for all philanthropy donation details – consistently communicate these details to all members of the F/F Operations and Marketing teams

- Meet monthly & quarterly with Controller/Treasurer and Head of Brand to analyze philantrophy/event revenue, goals, and targets.[3]

- Coordinate with Controller/Treasurer for proper execution of donations, invoicing, and payments.

Company Culture

-Work with HR and Head of Brand to develop guidelines for “Local Culture” group within Basecamp. Proactively engage in conversation therein.

- Gather information from Department Heads to share with all staff via weekly staff posts.

- Work with Head of Brand and Treasurer to develop and execute an employee appreciation program.

- Solely responsible for scheduling meetings via Event Planning committee to execute all staff gatherings - both intra and inter departmental.

- Solely responsible for all aspects of employee appreciation - spanning from birthday wishes to anniversary gifts.

- Work with Head of Brand and Human Resources to keep company policy up to date on aspects of diversity, equity and inclusion

-Gather information and updates from Department Heads and share weekly Staff Posts via Basecamp.

Misc.

- Manage individual administrative duties and paperwork professionally

- Understand and comply with all federal, state, and local laws

- Proudly represent the Fonta Flora brand both on and off site
- Other tasks as assigned

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- High School Degree, or Bachelor’s degree preferred

- Two years’ experience supporting Events or front-facing Customer Service

- Strong Planning and Organizational Skills

- Self Motivated

- Ability to manage time and priorities in an effective and efficient manner

- Natural ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and other employees

- Ability to navigate difficult situations with clients, vendors, and other employees

- Strong computer skills (MS-Word, MS-Excel, email, google doc)

- Frequently engage with Basecamp, our project management + internal communication tool

- Excellent written and oral communication skills

- Ability to track, monitor, and communicate progress for all scheduled events

- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

- Have reliable transportation

- Ability to travel to any of our three locations

- Flexible hours, weekend and festival events are likely

- Be proactively engaging in anti-racism work

- Educated in proper language surrounding LGBTQIA+ current issues and other historically marginalized communities.
