Data Collector - Bilingual, Educational Research
Job description
The Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) in UVA's School of Education seeks applicants for multiple Bilingual Wage Data Collector positions across the state of Virginia. The Data Collector assists with on-site activities of multiple CASTL projects, as assigned, some of which can include observations within classrooms, 1:1 direct child assessments and data collection and upload using project guidelines.
Possible regions include, but are not limited to, Southwest (Wise, Russell, Galax), Central (Charlotte, Orange, Richmond), Tidewater (Virginia Beach, Norfolk), and Northern Virginia (Arlington).
Primary requirements for this position include the following:
- Spanish proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with children in an educational or an out-of-school setting (such as a summer camp or an after-school program).
- Reliable personal transportation for traveling to, from, and between schools.
Additional requirements include:
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word).
- Proficient use of the internet as well as laptops, tablets, and/or PCs.
- Experience uploading/downloading information using cloud storage platforms.
- Ability to troubleshoot technology.
- Ability to attend training sessions, which may include a combination of video conference and in-person meetings
A bachelor's degree in Social Science, Education, or related field is preferred.
Pay range: $20 - $25 per hour.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as project need is identified.

- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Some experience working with children.
- Licensure: None.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
