Data Engineer – Job description

Data Engineer will be responsible for expanding and optimizing healthcare payer data, data pipeline architecture and data flow to enable analysis across several dimensions.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture
  • Monitor and validate health of ingestion and pipeline operations (24X7)
  • Repair abnormal job execution and data corruption conditions
  • Report daily and intraday support readiness and workflow-health
  • Automate jobs (ingestion & pipelines), notifications and reports
  • Support failures, data quality issues and environment health
  • Maintain ingestion and pipeline runbooks, portfolio summary and DBAR
  • Enable infrastructure change, enhancements and updates roadmap
  • Build the infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading data from a wide variety of data sources using big data technologies
Candidate Profile:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Computer Science or related quantitative field
  • Must have technical skills include:
o 3-5 years’ programming experience with SQL/PL-SQL, and scripting languages UNIX, Shell

o Experience with massively parallel processing systems like Spark or Hadoop

o Minimum of 3 years’ experience with Big data and Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Spark, Hive, ORC, HBase)

o Experience with source code control systems (GIT) and CI/CD process (Jenkins/Team City/Octopus)

o Involvement in the design, prototyping, and delivery of software solutions within the big data eco-system.

o Ability to perform code reviews to ensure that code meets acceptance criteria

o Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools to iterate quickly on product changes, developing user stories and working through backlog

o Improving data governance and quality, increasing the reliability of data

  • Nice to have technical skills include:
o Hands-on experience in back-end programming, particularly Java

o Experience in cloud computing with knowledge about configuration, environment, etc.

o Exposure to Azure

o AWS knowledge (S3/redshift/lambda/data pipeline)

o Experience in JIRA tool
