Job Type Description
I. A Custodian maintains positive work habits by:
Adhering to appropriate safety, hygiene, and health standards and maintaining safety of work area.
Adhering to schedules; being punctual.
Demonstrating flexibility and adjusting to change.
Adhering to implementing new responsibilities and assignments.
Working cooperatively with the educational team as well as demonstrating courtesy and tact in interpersonal relations.
Using good judgment and making sound decisions.
Adhering to all school, county and state policies and procedures.
Demonstrating dependability.
Understanding and implementing the job description.
Performing additional, reasonable job-related responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor.
II. A Custodian performs duties efficiently and productively by:
Keeping building clean and free of refuse.
Requesting appropriate supplies.
Informing immediate supervisor of problems in need of attention.
Making minor repairs.
Practicing energy conservation.
Serving as watchman
Keeps grounds mowed, trimmed and free of refuse.
Operating the heating and cooling system.
III. A Custodian maintains or upgrades skills by:
Working toward self-improvement.
Reacting favorably to constructive criticism.
Attending in-service meetings.
Salary Schedule
In accordance with Berkeley County School Service Personnel payscale. (Custodian III - C; Custodian IV - D). Supplement(s) for degree and/or college/trade school hours.

Specialized Skills
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Additional Job Information
Substitutes must be available and willing to accept at least 50% of received calls/assignments.
