Delivery/Warehouse Associate
DELIVERY/WAREHOUSE ASSOCIATE
Overview
The primary purpose of this job is to safely and efficiently deliver and install home furnishings and mattresses within the agreed upon time frame, ensuring the customer is completely satisfied with the items delivered. Additional job functions include merchandise handling, vehicle maintenance, furniture assembly, and other duties as assigned by management.
Responsibilities
- Check furniture to ensure it is in excellent condition prior to loading the truck.
- Accurately and safely load the truck, checking items against the sales order.
- Deliver and install furniture in a safe manner and within the agreed-upon timeframe.
- Pickup haul-away items in accordance with company policy.
- Report any delivery issues to management, being sure to record information on paperwork.
- Take photographs of any damages/issues, along with the serial numbers of each defective piece.
- Document start and end times at each stop for productivity purposes.
- Confirm all electric items (power recliners, adjustable beds, etc.) work prior to leaving the stop.
- Wipe down furniture once delivered, and remove any packaging materials from the home.
- Provide world-class customer service.
- Unload any returned or haul-away items in the designated warehouse area or showroom.
- Utilize helper to spot when driving the box truck in reverse or navigating tight areas.
- Fold blankets and store equipment and supplies in an effort to keep the truck organized.
- Perform checklist of truck to ensure all equipment and supplies are available.
- Support warehouse functions as needed, including receiving trucks, tagging sold items, and general organization/cleanliness of the warehouse.
- Drivers are assisted by the Delivery Helper. This position may rotate between driving and helping.
- Delivery Driver productivity standard is approximately 8 deliveries/day.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent or at least 1 year of commercial driving experience with a van and/or vehicle up to the size of a 20-foot box truck.
Ability to speak, read and write English
Must have reliable transportation
Must have a valid state driver’s license and safe/clean driving record
