Responsibilities for Construction Designer: The Construction Designer is responsible for the production of drawings from which buildings are constructed. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Creating architectural designs and construction documents
  • Ensuring that all projects conform to regulatory codes
  • Create, self-check, and manage complete sets of construction drawings
  • Provide technical support for internal staff, clients and contractors
  • Work with external engineers and contractors to ensure accuracy and adherence to code requirements of government agencies
  • Be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Complete detailed drawings within assigned time-frames
  • Must be knowledgeable of architectural standards, engineering practices, building ordinances, and blueprints
  • Must be able to clearly communicate technical knowledge to internal and external clients
  • Communication skills are essential in this position to work well with clients and determine their needs, including during site inspections, discussion of ideas and alternatives, discussion of budget constraints, and defining project objectives
  • Must have good problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills
  • Must be able to work independently to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated proficiency using contemporary software such as AutoCAD, Inventor and Revit to design, remodel, or re-purpose feed mills
  • Must able to balance technical skills with creative aptitude and output
  • Prepare project status reports and work to ensure plans adhere to contract specifications.
  • Provide input to leadership regarding strategic decisions that affect the business
  • Determine and define scope of work and deliverables
  • Predict resources needed to complete project
  • Draft and submit budget based on scope of work and resource requirement

Qualifications for Construction Designer

  • 1-3 years of progressive experience in construction design in a fast paced environment
  • Comfortable reading and understanding blueprints and drawings
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • A team player with leadership abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer software
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Inventor and Revit
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction, engineering, and architecture principles
  • Ability to budget, schedule, negotiate, and control costs
  • High school graduate or GED required. A bachelor's degree in Construction Design, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Design or Architecture is preferred
  • Salary dependent on experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
