CVP seeks a Junior DevOps Engineer to build solutions that embrace the culture of Agile and DevOps techniques. Our innovative processes and technology solutions consistently decrease development time and improve security; reduce bugs and flaws while still enhancing the developer experience, making it more cost efficient, and secure. CVP’s staff are experts in transforming our clients’ organizations into efficient, automated, high-quality software-driven enterprises. Our DevOps and Cloud Computing Subject Matter Experts are the top leaders in the industry who deliver on more than just the bottom line. The Junior DevOps Engineer will work as part of an integrated project team on a 5-year contract to provide professional information technology (IT) services to a leading United States government biomedical research institute in support of critical and complex IT services that support the institute's scientific, business, and administrative requirements, assisting them in achieving their research and public health mission.
Responsibilities:
- Develop CI/CD pipelines using various tooling to drive rapid delivery of functionality.
- Code all infrastructure artifacts and their associated inter-working parts in a manner that most effectively promulgates re-use of code in higher and/or lower environments
- Automate manual processes to improve the efficiency, reliability, and security of Cloud-hosted networks and systems.
- BA or BS degree in Computer Science or related field AND at least 4+ years of fully relevant experience
- Hands-on development experience with at least one language (Python, JavaScript, Bash a plus)
- Hands-on Virtual Private Cloud, Networking (intra-VPC, VPN, CIDR, etc.), Security, Database selection and design, and associated cloud experience
- Hands-on experience developing build pipelines using Jenkins or equivalent tools
- Excellent written and verbal client-facing communication skills
- Applicants should have at least one Associate Level AWS Certification or at least be working towards one. All candidates are required to attain a certification soon after joining.
- 2+ years of experience developing applications in at least one language or 2+ years of experience with continuous integration/deployment/delivery approaches and tooling, including Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub or similar tools.
- 2+ years of experience with Linux systems
- 2+ years of experience with designing, building, deploying, and securing software architectures in Cloud computing environments such as AWS, Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure
- 2+ years of experience with virtualization/containerization using frameworks such as: Docker, Containers, Vagrant, Ansible or Terraform
- 2+ years of experience with scripting languages, including Shell, Perl or Python
- Experience with hybrid architecture including at least one On-Prem to Cloud Platform migration.
- Experience administering application servers, database servers, cloud computing artifacts and development integration tools
- Experience with software development processes or Agile development, including Scrum, Kanban, rapid prototyping, or similar environment
- Ability to architect and implement enterprise DevOps solutions across multiple cloud settings
Desired Skills
- Experience in a biomedical research environment
- Experience with Terraform, OpenShift, Docker-Swarm
- Experience with designing and administering microservice architectures
- Experience using containers and popular container orchestration systems like Kubernetes
