Shift: First (6AM - 2PM)
Position Overview:
The Die cast Setup Technician is effective and efficient in properly setting dies for high pressure aluminum and zinc die casts. Follows prescribed processes in a safe and clean work environment to produce top quality parts with minimal waste.
Requirements:
Mechanical ability with broad working knowledge of the department’s equipment, tools, standard operating procedures, process control, records and practices. Champion SMED practices with die cast setup team. Be effective and efficient in die setups and other job duties. Able to learn and contribute to improving department’s systems and processes to increase productivity and reduce waste.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a high school education or equivalent. Minimum of five years experience in setup operations. Must be business-oriented producing top quality parts, quickly, efficiently and safely. Be highly organized. Possess excellent written, oral and basic computer skills. Strive for continuous improvement for the company, department and personally. Able to follow directions as well as be self-directed and help others.
Job Duties:
Responsible for the setup/teardown of the die cast and trim press machines in accordance with established procedures that will ensure the safety of the operator, equipment and quality of parts produced. Quality parts must meet or exceed company and customer specifications in our certified Quality environment (TS16949).
Assist in training machine operators in the performance of their job duties.
Assists the operator in startup of the shift, ensuring they understand the safe operation procedures, production and quality requirements.
Follow SMED guidelines. Champion continuous improvement in setups, processes, organization, and waste-reduction efforts.
Continuous visual and physical inspection of all die cast machines and trim presses for any needed repairs, maintenance.
Observe operators for the correct operation of machines, safety equipment and procedures.
Utilize correct safety equipment, dress and conduct. Be a champion of safety in all departments.
Maintain and accurately complete documentation.
Assist Superintendent in correct completion of required quality and production requirements.
