Responsibilities The Dietary Cook will work Regular Full-Time Various Shifs & Weekends and review menus prior to preparation of food. Assure that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies. The Dietary Cook will assist in food services production line, etc., to assure that meals are prepared on time. Assume supervisory role in the absence of the Head Cook, Assistant Director or Director. Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-department personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to assure that food services can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents. The Dietary Cook will create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the department. Prepare meals in accordance with planned meal for the supper meal. Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance. The Dietary Cook will serve food in accordance with established portion control. Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus. Prepare food in accordance with standardized recipes and special diet orders. The Dietary Cook will prepare food in accordance with sanitary regulations, as well as our established policies and procedures. Assure that safety regulations are followed, at all times, by all personnel. Follow established Infection Control and Universal Precautions policies and procedures when performing daily tasks. Assist/direct daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures. The Dietary Cook assures that the department is maintained in a clean and safe manner by assuring that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained to perform such duties/services. Report all accidents or incidents as established by department policies. Fill out and file reports as directed. The Dietary Cook will report all hazardous conditions or equipment to the Director of Food Services immediately. Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times. Complete production tasks for next day meals as instructed. Assist in food preparation for special meals or occasions. Attend all required in-services and follow all department and facility policies including use of personal protective equipment. The Dietary Cook is required to perform other duties as directed by supervisor or Administrator including assisting with residents as needed. Maintain CONFIDENTIALITY of all pertinent resident care and employee information and follow HIPAA and HIV regulations. Qualifications Bassett Healthcare Network follows the New York State and New York State Department of Health COVID-19 vaccine mandates for healthcare workers. This mandate requires COVID-19 vaccinations for personnel working for or on behalf of our hospitals and nursing homes. The New York State mandate allows for medical exemptions and religious accommodations, when appropriate. Experience: One year of training and experience in quantity/quality food preparation is preferred.
