NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln Dietitian Level III – Pediatrics

Job description

New York City Health and Hospitals is currently seeking a Full Time Dietitian Level III to join our dynamic team at Lincoln (Located in Downtown Bronx, only 1-2 subway stations away from Manhattan, 2 minutes walking time to the hospital from the subway station).

· Provide appropriate nutritional care for patients in various outpatient practices, primarily in Pediatrics. Cross coverage as needed in other areas, including Adult Medicine, Geriatrics, Oncology, Women’s Health Center, Immunology, and group nutrition education classes.

· Interview patients for nutritional history. Complete timely documentation in patient’s electronic medical record such as nutritional assessments, follow-up notes and patient goals.

· Provide nutritional counseling, diet instructions and food/drug interaction counseling. Recommend supplements as indicated and monitors patient’s use.

· Interpret pertinent laboratory and other diagnostic data to determine appropriate care plan.

· Utilize and develop as needed appropriate nutrition education materials (age specific, culturally sensitive, low health literacy, and condition specific).

· Plan nutrition/health programs, implements, and evaluates nutrition education in different settings.

· Participate in staff development activities and interdisciplinary meetings.

· Participate in training of dietetic interns and onboarding of new employees.

· Track performance improvement metrics including patients assessed and counseled, no-show rate, fill rate, etc. where applicable. Monitors trends and develops action items to address any areas for improvement.

· Plan nutrition/health programs, and implement and evaluate nutrition education in different settings.

· Utilize effective written and oral communication and presentation skills.

· Assist in the supervision of Levels I and II dietitians, helping to ensure full compliance with clinical standards.

· Perform other nutrition related duties as assigned by supervisor/designee.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD) REQUIRED.

· Prior 1-2 years in healthcare setting REQUIRED, and prior 1-2 years in an acute care hospital setting preferred.

· Master's degree in a healthcare related field OR Bachelor's degree in Nutrition/Dietetic plus Certification in a nutrition specialty area (e.g. CDCES) preferred.

· Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $62,210.00 - $66,452.00 per year
