Job description

Purpose

This position will assist with the management of the local health department website, mobile app, social media, and other public health messaging.

Work Conditions

· Part-time contract employee

· Flexible hours, not to exceed 100 hours per month or 1200 hours per year

· Remote

· Hourly pay depends on experience.

Qualifications

· Coursework beyond the high school level in communications (journalism, advertising, marketing, public relations), English (writing/editing), or public health required.

· Excellent interpersonal communication skills required.

· Strong proofreading skills and attention to detail required.

· Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks efficiently.

· Experience in the use of Microsoft Office, Zoom, and Teams required.

· Experience writing, reviewing, and editing communication materials preferred.

· Experience writing in plain language preferred.

· Experience in the use of WordPress and Canva preferred.

Responsibilities

· Assist staff with basic graphic design of communication materials using Canva, Powerpoint, and similar tools.

· Maintain agency web pages and template documents according to communication plan and brand guidelines.

· Maintain social media scheduler, including assisting with messaging development and maintaining the social media library using Meet Edgar.

· Proofread staff communication materials and assist with revisions.

· Engage with leadership and subject matter experts to develop and evaluate public health messaging and content.

· Maintain agency mobile app using online platform and coordinate push notifications with events and social media.

· Ensure content is developed with plain language and accessibility as a priority.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
